The Open Air Museum consists of three areas: a Kempen village, a Haspengouw
village and the area East and West Flanders. From 28 March 2009 -
30 September
2009 each village offers a different experience:
Haspengouw: Bokrijk’s reenactors Flash… There you are,
in the middle of an authentic village in 1909. The inhabitants address
you as if you are one of them. Then they return to their daily tasks.
Listen to the priest’s sermon, talk to Pelagie (the farmer’s wife)
or the constable, or relive the past at one of the many museum events..

The Kempen: New Interactive Annual Theme Smugglers:
they have always been around. This year you can follow in their
footsteps in the Kempen. During the annual theme ‘Going smuggling…’
you’ll put yourself in the shoes of smugglers, follow contraband
routes and gain insight into real smuggling tricks – both past and
present. Discover the story of your predecessors. East and West Flanders: Pride in traditional methods Discover
the wage earners of 100 years ago. Craftsmen demonstrate their skills
every day and give you the opportunity to lend a helping hand. Watch
the wood turner, spinner, felt-maker, milliner, chaircaner, mustard
